The cartoon features character voices by The Goodies.
Eric's love interest Fiona was based on BBC newsreader Selina Scott.
Bananaman is based on the British comic book character by John Geering and Steve Bright, a parody of the Marvel comic book characters of the era.
In the opening titles, Bananaman appears to swim through the air rather than actually fly!
Eric's surname in the original comic books was Wimp, not Twinge.
